It’s Going To Be A Big Week For Michigan Football Recruiting
As we teased last week, it looks like Michigan could be in for a big week on the recruiting trail. The optimism reached new heights when four-star DE Corey Malone-Hatcher announced on twitter that he would be committing on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
Top schools: I will be announcing my commitment on Thursday @ 3:30pm at SJHS. Thanks to all that recruited me 🙏🏽🕐🕑🕒😈 pic.twitter.com/E6SA0k59Du

Malone-Hatcher was long thought to be a strong Michigan lean so the timing of the announcement on the heels of the rumors last week seem to indicate that this is the first domino to fall in what should be a big week/month of recruiting for the Wolverines.
He is a four star prospect who ESPN ranks as the 254th best player in the country. More from ESPN….
BOTTOM LINE: Malone-Hatcher is the prototype on the hoof, but he will need to settle into a position and develop and improve to reach his true potential. Given his size and strength, he could develop at LB or DE depending on scheme and further physical development. Regardless of where he lines up is a very good defensive prospect.
Malone-Hatcher would be Michigan’s 13th committment to the class of 2017.
The next major player to commit to Michigan is rumored to be top 100 player Luiji Vilain a DE from Alexandria, VA.
This will be a big month, indeed.
This Is The B1G Divisional Tie Breaker!
According to BTN’s Tom Deinhart Michigan is still very much in the running for the East Title:
Would it be a shock to see Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State all finish 7-1 and tied atop the Big Ten East? Not really.
Should it happen, with the Spartans’ defeat coming to the Buckeyes, and the Buckeyes’ setback coming to the Wolverines, the Big Ten title game matchup wouldn’t be official until four days before the big game on Saturday, Dec. 5 in Indianapolis.
That’s because, under this scenario, using the conference’s official tiebreakers, the tie would be broken by the final College Football Playoff Poll of the regular season, to be released at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Here is the tiebreaker:
The highest ranked team in the first College Football Playoff poll following the completion of Big Ten regular season conference play shall be the representative in the Big Ten Championship Game, unless the two highest ranked tied teams are ranked within one spot of each other in the College Football Playoff poll. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the Big Ten Championship Game.
It would come down to this because the tie wouldn’t be broken by the conference’s first four tiebreakers.
Those are right here:
- The records of the three tied teams will be compared against each other. (They all would be 1-1 vs. each other)
- The records of the three tied teams will be compared within their division. (They all would be 4-1)
- The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5, 6, and 7). (They all would be 4-0)
- The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents. (They all would be 4-0)
Michigan Grab’s 4 Star Cass Tech Commit For 2016
Michigan got a big commitment tonight from 4 * OL/DL from Cass Tech Michael Onwenu. Onwenu can play either offensive guard or defensive line and is the 7th commitment for Jim Harbaugh’s class of 2016. Onwenu is a 6-4, 368-pounder ranked the No. 171 overall prospect in the nation, Michigan recruited him as a guard.
With the Onwenu commitment, Michigan now has 2 of the top 250 OL’s in the nation for the class of 2016 as he joins OT Eric Swenson from Downers Grove, IL as future Wolverines.
Harbaugh won a head to head battle with Urban Meyer on this one and you have to wonder if the botched recruitment of Mike Weber hurt OSU with the Cass Tech prospect.
It’s no secret what Jim Harbaugh wants to do on offense and add two elite offensive line recruits is a major step in the right direction for Michigan. Michigan now is 24th on the Rivals.com recruiting board just ahead of Auburn and with a healthy 3.71 rating per commit, Michigan is 5th in the country.
Michigan Unveils New Road Football Uniform
I’ve never understood why people get so emotional about uniforms, but this new road look for Michigan has a lot of people worked up.

Michigan Recruiting: Updated Crystal Ball Predictions For Michigan Targets!
Michigan Asks For Season Ticket Renewals.
Like many Michigan season ticket holders, I got my renewal notice today.
The deadline to renew my Michigan Football tickets is January 31, 2015. I will not renew until I know who is Michigan Football Head coach in 2015. I’m sure we will have our answer before the deadline.
I’ve been a Michigan football season ticket holder since 1997 and never in a million years did I think I would ever consider giving them up as I suspected my kids would someday like to have the tickets. Face it, that is how it has been done for generations at Michigan. The normal path was to hand them down to your kids because once you had the tickets, you just didn’t give them up as there was once a decades long waiting list. Continue Reading…
Harbaugh To Michigan Timeline
I’m hearing a lot of stuff from the national media about Jim Harbaugh and I’m shocked that it is exactly the opposite of what I hear from Michigan insiders. Logic matters in the process, emotion is what is driving the decision.
Let’s look at the process logically. If Michigan hasn’t fired Brady Hoke already, there has to be a reason, otherwise it would be smart to have already started looking for a new coach so the program doesn’t lose out to Nebraska and Florida with external candidates. What does it tell you that there isn’t any urgency in the program to make a move? What I am hearing is that Michigan has already been given assurances that Jim Harbaugh wants the job but they need to buy some time. Here is what I am told is happening. Continue Reading…
Why Brandon Is Still At Michigan! The Answer!
Talked to some sources today that informed me that Dave Brandon is still at Michigan because of politics.
The New President at The University of Michigan doesn’t want to act right now and has asked the Regents to decide which way to go on the Athletic Director situation.
The President and the Regents would prefer that Brandon step down as AD, but sources close to both sides claim Brandon is adamant that he is not stepping down without his full contract through 2018. Remember, he was gifted a new deal by his friend and outgoing President Mary Sue Coleman as a payback for Brandon helping get her the President’s gig.
Brandon is not going to go quietly and will take this whole department down if he doesn’t get what he wants when he leave the University.
The only way to make him go away is to pressure him and the Regents.
